I had a conversation with a friend of mine about the nature of LCGs and he made some pretty good points about how with the release of data packs being so often, the metagame really never has a time to settle. I think he's right as illustrated by this example: let's say you play twice a week with a regular opponent. That gives you 8 plays per month and then Hey! New cards! The schedule for Netrunner expansions hasn't been established yet, but we can look at other LCGs to get an idea. In the following calculations I've made the assumption that chapter/adventure/data packs contain 20 new cards each and large expansions contain 100 cards. I realize these are not exact numbers, but it should be a good ball park estimate for what we can expect from Netrunner.
Game of Thrones: The Card Game
Released in December 2008, approximately 46 months ago
50 Chapter Packs, 6 Big expansions
Average of 34 new cards per month
Call of Cthulu
Released in December 2008, approximately 46 months ago
42 Chapter Packs, 3 Big expansions
Average of 25 new cards per month
Warhammer: Invasion
Released in September 2009, approximately 37 months ago
33 Chapter Packs, 3 Big expansions
Average of 26 new cards per month
Lord of the Rings: The Card Game
Released in March 2011, approximately 19 months ago
12 Chapter Packs, 4 Big expansions
Average of 34 new cards per month
I think we can expect something similar with Netunner, so the question is:
