"A lot of variety" is one of the things, at least in my opinion, that you want to avoid when teaching new players a game, especially one that already has a complex structure like A:NR. Shapers, because they have versatility without a lot of "upkeep" (virus counters, etc.), would definitely be my first choice for a Runner faction.

On the Corp side, I would actually say HB. They have a consistent stream of money and are the best at doing what a beginning Corp should be doing: ICE, ICE and more ICE. Keep the Runner out, don't worry about maintaining your poker face and trying to trap them. Build up the data forts and slam the agendas through while the Runner is wasting time playing Chess with your Bioroids.
