I will rephrase: it is unlikely to have three Sure Gambles on the top of your deck. It is reasonably likely to have two Sure Gambles in your hand and zero Credits.

I've never had two Sure Gambles in hand with zero credits myself, but I will certainly take you at face value that this hasn't been uncommon for you. :)

I don't disagree with Byron's point. In fact, I quite agree with it.

For the starting hand case, if you haven't spent any credits on turn one, then a Sure Gamble gets the benefit of the 'start of game granted credits and cards' and actually drops to a single play action for +4 credits.

It's actually +3 credits because it still takes you a click to play the card, yes?

You're also paying for the opportunity cost of not having another card in your starting hand, which is where the extra +1 went.

There are lots of ways to distort the environment, which is why sometimes taking it to a completely frictionless vacuum is the best way to do an honest comparison.

While this comment wasn't directed at me, I generally agree that a frictionless vacuum is one way to perform a meaningful comparison and has the significant advantage of an unambiguous starting point.
